Study Shows Long-Term Annual CT Lung Screening Reduces Mortality Risk

December 4, 2019 | Cancer Screening

A recent study published in the Annals of Oncology reports the latest results from the Multicentric Italian Lung Detection (MILD) trial, which show increasing benefits of annual or biennial lung cancer screening over time — starting after year five. Their 10-year results showed that CT lung screening was associated with a 39% lower risk of lung cancer mortality compared with no screening, exceeding previous studies reporting 20% and 26% reductions.

Tracking and managing patients in screening programs is important and necessary, but often poses significant challenges. The HealthMyne Platform reduces clinical variability and ensures reliable screening program management by providing recommended follow-ups, tracking patient progress and streamlining radiologists’ workflow with easy access to priors and longitudinal lesion comparisons.
