Radiomics continue to show more promise in cancer care

High-grade brain tumors (glioblastoma) and brain metastasis are the two most common intra-axial brain tumors in adults. There is high clinical importance to differentiating between these two types of brain cancer, because prognosis, treatment and therapeutic implications are different for each. Original research explores the differences between glioblastoma and brain metastasis types and subtypes using radiomics analysis.

This study shows that a radiomic signature is more accurate than standard visual identifiers and biopsy results. The authors suggest that an automatic method of extracting the data is important in assessment and clinical decision making.
